Photoshop
I was not really very good at photoshop when I first started using it about a year ago. The interface seemed too complicated and I used to mess with the filters to get something out of really nothing. Then while surfing on the web I found watchandlearnphotoshop.com and subscribed to its free video tutorials. Craig campbell (my life saver), the author of these tutorials is so good, that I have ended up learning more than I could have ever done just by reading books. Just take a look at these and you will know what I mean...
Flash
I also stumbled upon flash when I was seaching the net for some free presentation templates. I was really blown away by the versatility of this application. I got some books and also downloaded all the documentation from adobe website (it was macromedia back then). learnflash.com also provided some great videos courtesy of Craig campbell (thats why I call him my life saver) and today I can safely say that I am good enough to put together a full blown flash website on my own. I have to thank my teachers at arena multimedia bilaspur for teaching me the basics as far as web designing and scripting are concerned. I really prefer working with complete CSS layouts rather than using conventional tables. If you are into web designing then I would suggest you to do the same. You will soon realize that it is a much easier, faster and manageable approach for design the structure of a webpage (for reference visit csszengarden.com). The biggest advantage being that all the elements (images, text, media) can be placed on a page with pixel precision...
